I myself am a Shoshone woman ...I love this article. I myself am a Shoshone woman and yes Sacagawea was an amazing woman whom the Shoshone Nation is proud to be acknowledged in our history books. As to how her name was pronounced, according to my mother and aunties, her name was pronounced (Haug-a-naugh-we-ah) which meant " what are you carrying?" Pretty fitting since she carried her baby on her back through the expedition. What a strong and amazing woman!! Thank you for welcoming my comment.
